Servicios Financieros Globales Nicaragua, SA (SERFIGSA) was created in Managua in 2009 and offers financial services and capital growth opportunities to Nicaraguan families. SERFIGSA has a network of branches in key areas of the country. Over the years, several new branches have been opened due to portfolio growth and growing demand from clients.
In 2013, SERFIGSA was awarded the title ‘Best MFI’ out of 21 institutions regulated by the National Commission of Microfinance Institutions (CONAMI). In the same year, it established a special anti-money laundering (AML) committee.
The organization will continue to work on increasing its rural focus and improving poverty screening and cost transparency. SERFIGSA uses credit bureaus to prevent over-indebtedness and applies income-dependent loan caps.
