Trade in products that have been certified and carry a fair trade label. An example of this is a farmer’s cooperative that collectively sells its cocoa to a fair trade organization.Ocean SA (Ocean) is an independent Fair Trade and UTZ certified cocoa and cashew nut buyer, processor and exporter. Ocean’s main buyer is Cocoasource SA, one of their shareholders, which manages relationships with international confectionery companies such as Tony’s Chocolonely.
Ocean aims to increase the revenue and improve the quality of life of its suppliers to enable smallholder farmer cooperatives to grow and become more independent.
Ocean was founded in 2013 and first partnered with Oikocredit in 2017.
