ANATRANS - Unterstützung kleinbäuerlicher Cashew-Anbaubetriebe
ANATRANS
Supporting small cashew nut growers
Fair trade
Trade in products that have been certified and carry a fair trade label. An example of this is a farmer’s cooperative that collectively sells its cocoa to a fair trade organization.Anatrans SARL (Anatrans) is one of the leading cashew nut processors in Burkina Faso.
The company sources fair trade, organic and conventional cashews from around 3,500 local farmers. It then shells, peels and grades them for export to clients in Europe and the United States.
In 2017 Anatrans was processing 3,500 tonnes of cashews a year.
The company carries the seal of the African Cashew Alliance (ACA). The ACA promotes and monitors quality, environmental and social standards in the sector.
Anatrans has been certified fair trade by FLO-Cert since 2011 and is certified organic by Ecocert. It meets internationally recognised standards, including those set by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
The partnership with Oikocredit will support Anatrans’s social goals and enable stronger links with cashew producing cooperatives. It will also generate new employment opportunities for women.
Anatrans has been an Oikocredit partner since 2017.
