Ivoire Coton
Promoting cotton production in Côte d'Ivoire
Fair trade
Trade in products that have been certified and carry a fair trade label. An example of this is a farmer’s cooperative that collectively sells its cocoa to a fair trade organization.Ivoire Coton is one of the main players in Côte d'Ivoire's cotton market. It aims to promote the development of smallholder farms to ensure cotton supplies to its factories, to transform the raw cotton in order to market semi-finished products internationally and thus contribute to improving the living standards of rural communities.
The company was established in 1998 by a consortium formed by the Aga Khan Group's affiliate in West Africa (IPS WA) and Paul Reinhart AG following the liberalization of Côte d’Ivoire's cotton sector.
Ivoire Coton has been an Oikocredit partner since 2016.
