Alimentos Campestres’ mission aligns with that of Oikocredit in that they both support the livelihoods of smallholder farmers while seeking to create a positive environmental impact. The company has been an Oikocredit partner since 2010.
The dehydration plant is located in Palo Amontonado in the department of El Progreso while the storage facilities and headquarters are in Guatemala City.
Alimentos Campestres sources most of its raw materials from around 170 smallholder and medium-scale local farmers (2018). Production is partly powered by solar energy, to minimise any effect on the environment. The company has stringent internal control systems in place to comply with the high standards of the Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP certification.
The company’s products are sold on both the local and international markets, including Mexico, El Salvador and the USA.
