The small non-profit organization Instituto de Investigaciones Socio-Económicas y Tecnológicas (INSOTEC) was established in Quito in 1980. It provides micro-lending services to the lower end of the micro-business sector in rural areas. INSOTEC has extensive coverage in the coastal regions and central highlands through a network of eight branches.
The provinces served by INSOTEC have very dynamic commercial activities in a number of sectors including agriculture, livestock, tourism and handicrafts. In 2013, the organization had more than 14,000 active borrowers.
INSOTEC has been an Oikocredit partner since 2007.
